Chalkline has introduced new BIM and Spec integration functionality directly into Microsoft Word

Chalkline has introduced new BIM and Spec integration functionality directly into Microsoft Word to provide more automation and time.

Chalkline launched the first BIM integrated specification solution that runs directly in Autodesk Revit 18 months before. It has now carried that integration and coordination directly into Microsoft Word for the users who don’t have access to Autodesk Revit.

It is now possible for specifiers and designers to generate the integration among the model components and materials and the necessary specifications directly in Word. Coordination problems are marked for the users that minimize the RFIs and Addendums because of faults and oversights. The users can also get details about what is included, eliminated, and modified in the model since the last model sync. It allows the users to simply identify probable conflicts and updates required.

With project key filters, it is now possible to automatically add or strikeout project specific language in all the project language for instance whether it is a LEED project or what building codes will be suitable. As soon as the project criteria is set, all project documents are updated automatically to guarantee superior level of uniformity whereas saving time editing specifications.

Document Key Filters allow the users to produce a document specific checklist with links to all the relevant paragraph and necessary bracket items. When a product is chosen all the necessary language will be added and for products not selected those relevant items will be eliminated.

VisiSpecs Filters comprise of simple built-in tools for generating and previewing to facilitate the users simply controlling how the document will be rectified on the basis of the filters employed.

VisiSpecs v18.1 also contains the automatic addition of PDF Project Manual bookmarks to simplify the process for reading and navigating the manual. Supplimentary project management, publishing, and Word document management features are also included to the release.

How to create a rendered 2D floor plan in Revit

In this revit tutorial, you will learn how to produce a rendered 2D floor plan in Revit.

Generally, a regular floor plan is taken from AutoCAD and imported in photoshop. In photoshop, the surfaces are chosen and transformed to some material textures to provide the appearance of a rendering.

In revit this process can be done more efficiently.
The following revit shortcuts are used to complete the tutorial.
GR - Grid
RE - Scale
EL - Elevation
VR - View Range
CL - Structural Column
MM - Mirror (pick axis)
- Mirror (draw axis)
UN - Project Units
WA - Wall
CS - Create Similar
RP - Reference Plane
- Align
SL - Split Element
OF - Offset
TR - Trim/Extend
AR - Array
CO - Copy
TX - Text
LI - Model Lines
DL - Detail LInes
RR - Render
RY - Ray Trace
GD - Graphic Display Options
TL - Thin Lines
GP - Group
