BIM professionals can enhance their knowledge with the Smart Building Conference in London

The next Smart Building Conference will be arranged at Dexter House in London on 15th October. The event will be a meeting place for experts belonging to various complimentary fields. These people can communicate with each other regarding general cause of thinking, working and building to make the future of Smart Building more promising.

The Smart Building Conference will consist of an audience of building systems professionals ranging from architects, facilities managers, consultants, developers and other groups who assemble to sharpen their awareness and expertise in integration, room and building control systems, fire and security, CCTV, networking, energy management, lighting and so many.

In this event, Director of Architectural Development of FSR Inc, Jon Melchin, will provide a brief presentation focusing on his know-how on Building Information Modeling (BIM). This session will be occurring at 2:30 PM.
In his speech Melchin will highlight the potentiality of BIM in the application of smart building and its capability to accumulate various parties mutually to distribute information concerning a building, its components and the energy efficiency performance evaluation related to an intelligent environment.

Besides, Melchin also shows how BIM can be efficiently applied for 3d design, modeling and simulation to make a sea change in the architectural field.

Use BIM technology for masonry work

Building Information Modeling or BIM is a useful is already known to be as an useful tool in 3D modeling in construction.

The term BIM is also used as an object used for construction. The BIM model gives a digital representation of the building and thus enabling the architects and constructors can visualize the building before the actual constructions and hence can implement that in the actual construction.

Building construction is actually done by the masons as with the supervision of architects masons finally build it. So the base and longevity of the building depends on the masonry work. If there is any significant problem in masonry work then the building is bound to break down at anytime, mainly during the storm or even a light earthquake. When an architect plans about a building he makes a draft the entire design and layout of the building. Then as per the plan masonry work starts. But till now there is no such advanced tool which can control the masonry work itself so that the construction work gets strengthened from the very beginning. Therefore, there is a need to develop BIM tools for masonry to maintain market share. With that intent, an Initiative was formed in 2012 specifically to advance BIM for masonry.

BIM technology is extensively being used for construction work across the world. It has invented tools to control the masonry work as well. The National Building Information Modeling for Masonry Initiative (BIM-M) has been set up in order to serve this purpose. It actually identifies the barriers to the masonry work and suggests strategies for the full implementation of masonry materials and systems into BIM software for the design and construction industries.

Kauf, the leading lightweight building material manufacturer, offers downloading BIM objects of its products

Knauf, UK based leading producer of lightweight building materials and systems, will be given opportunities for users to download Building Information Modelling (BIM) objects of its products first time in UK.

If the manufacturers’ BIM objects are utilized with the conceptual phase at the time of specifying then various project aspects like energy efficiency and thermal performance are evaluated more precisely.

Knauf’s BIM objects can be acquired in Autodesk’s Revit, the main BIM software format, with 25 key partitioning and walling products. Various other products are in development stage.

BIM accumulates numerous data flows and makes a sea change in the way in which buildings are planned, built and sustained.  It facilitates the design team to produce a complete virtual 3D model of a building.
