4D parametric modelling of bridges with Allplan Bridge

Allplan Bridge can be used for creating 4D parametric modelling of bridges. The software provides supports to the engineers in all stages of planning ranging from the initial concept to the execution plan.

The software contains the following exclusive features :-

Formation of model: The 3D parametric model description takes into account the road layout, bridge alignment and required cross-sections to create model configuration rapid and well organized.

Complex geometries along with double curved alignment and variable cross-sections are produced easily with alphanumeric entries and formulas.

Modelling of composite and steel bridges: While specifying the cross-section, standardised and recurring profiles like longitudinal stiffeners for steel and composite cross-sections can be simply placed parametrically. Initially, the profile is specified parametrically in a individual section or imported from the user library. The location and number of components are then specified and automatically arranged along a cross-section edge.

Streamline Prestressing: Allplan Bridge 2019 simplifies the process to model an extensive range of pre-stressing: with immediate or later bond, internal and external, longitudinal, transverse and vertical, together with non-standard geometry.

Depending on user-defined 3D points, the program automatically produces the geometry of a tendon along the bridge structure. Each 3D Tendon point is indicated by the position along the axis, and the position in the cross-section concerning a reference point.

Changes made in no time at all: Allplan Bridge allows you to manage the predictable changes that happen throughout the design process. The parametric model description is a perfect base for adjusting design modifications. The modifications are integrated only at their origin and all other connected members are automatically updated.

Save time with parametric object placement: Objects from the Allplan Engineering library is referenced in Allplan Bridge 2019 to provide further details like lamp posts or anchor devices of tendons to the bridge model. To perform this, reference points are specified in Allplan Bridge with variables along the bridge. These points are connected to the object in the Allplan library with the relevant name. When the parametric model is transmitted to Allplan Engineering, the subsequent objects are placed at these reference points. The location of these objects is automatically revised whenever the model is updated.

Smooth data exchange: By incorporating road data, road/bridge alignment is easily obtained through ALLPLAN’s open BIM platform known as Allplan Bimplus. The bridge engineer will acquire the road data and quickly start with the bridge design.

Planning stressing sequences in Allplan Bridge: A stressing sequence is specified for each tendon provided in the model. Stressing, wedge slip, and releasing are existing actions. These actions are executed at the beginning of the tendon, at the end, or at both sides at the same time. To maximize the management of tendon stressing, the sequences of stressing actions are preserved as named “stress groups”.

Integration of the fourth dimension: In Allplan Bridge 2019-1, the construction process can be mapped in a 4D model. Initially, the construction plan is segregated into different construction phases and then into individual tasks like concrete hardening, tendon stressing or activating the self-weight. Either the start date or the start day is applied as the starting point.

With Allplan Bridge 2019-1, various different construction plans can be made for the equivalent bridge for a variant comparison. The output is a trustworthy parametric 4D bridge model.
