How to use revit for generating animated GIFS

In this construction article, you will learn how to use revit for generating your own animated GIFs.

Animated GIFs are most effective while employing a consistent view point and modify something inside the view, as for example the clarity of the elements or the cutting plane of a section box. Here, the cutting plane of a section box is modified in order that the GIF can animate the movement of the section via the building.

Initially, generate the 3D view and activate the section box. It is the starting view and ensure that the section box isn’t cutting the building. This view is titled as a “_01” suffix. A new 3D view template is also generated and included to this view. This template will be applied to manage the clarity of the section box in all the animation views.

After completing it, replicate the view, move the section box into the building by about 20 feet and redefine the view with an “02” suffix.

The entire method of replicating the view, moving the section box, and renaming the view is continued unless the section box has moved through the whole building.

It is recommended to utilize minimum 8 – 10 images. The animation will be smoother as the numbers of images are increased.
As soon as all the views are produced, edit the view template and deactivate the section box.
Step 2 – Export Images

After generating all the images, export them using the “Export Image” dialog. Go to the Revit button, choose “Export” then “Images and Animations” and lastly, “Image”. It will introduce the “Export Image” dialog.

In the “Export Image” dialog, choose the views to export in the “Export Range” section. Suppose, you are going to utilize PNG files, then in the “Format” section, PNG for “Shaded views” and “Non shaded views” are selected. Also, arrange the image size for the images in the “Image Size” section. It is suggested to apply 600 pixels horizontal for animated GIFs.
Choose the output folder then click “OK” to export the images.
Step 3 – Load Images into Photoshop
Now, the image files are ready for the animation, these should be transferred into the GIF file and animated. It will be performed with Photoshop. The initial step is to load the individual image files as layers with the “Load Files into Stack” script. To obtain the script, go to File > Scripts > Load Files into Stack.
Each image will be shown as a separate layer in the “Layers” dialog box.
To learn the remaining steps, go through the following article archdaily.com

How to generate custom floor patterns in Revit

This revit tutorial provides brief instructions on how to use Revit for producing a custom floor plan with the help of split element and create parts tools.

The following revit shortcuts are used in the tutorial:

UN - Project Units WA - Wall CS - Create Similar RP - Reference Plane Al - Align TR - Trim/Extend AR - Array CO - Copy
In this tutorial, you will learn how to cut up the last layer of the floor and generate custom pattern as well alter the material of various floor tiles.
Split elements: Split elements are used to cut an element (like a wall or pipe) at a specified point, or eliminate a segment among 2 points. In Revit LT 2018, go to the “Modify” menu and opt for the “Split” tool.

There are 2 versions of the Split tool like “Split Element” and “Split with Gap “. Go ahead and choose split element” tool from the drop-down menu. Once it is activated, it should be noticed that the cursor has been changed to an icon of a knife / scalpel blade. Just hover over the element that you want to split and Revit will demonstrate a blue line to specify where the split will be done. Go ahead and left-click with your mouse. Revit then splits the element at this point.

Create Parts: It is possible to create a part from an element that has been chosen in the drawing area, either in the existing project or in a linked model.
In the case of elements containing layers or subcomponents, like walls, individual parts will be generated for those layers. For other elements, a single part element is formed. In either case, the consequential part or parts can then be separated into smaller parts.
To learn how to create the custom plan, watch the following video tutorial.

SANHA’s RefHP fittings range is available for BIM and Revit

SANHA, German based manufacturer of piping systems has introduced its RefHP high-pressure fittings range that is accessible for the Building Information Modeling (BIM) Revit process.

Technical planners and engineers will be able to avail this data without any difficulty while planning refrigeration systems and rooms for fruit and vegetables or other commercial and industrial installations with CO2 transcritical systems.

All forms are preserved as a data record. Along with with auto-routing and auto-scaling functions, it allows to create practical visualisation and all-inclusive and time-saving planning, line layout and traceability.
From the plans created in this way, a material list is produced directly with a simple click of the mouse. The app includes all other SANHA systems and these are downloaded at free of cost.
The RefHP range comprises of soldering fittings in sizes from 3/8" to 2 1/8" and thus encompasses all requirements. The fittings are created with an extremely stable copper-iron alloy, which makes them perfect for increasing utilization in CO2 up to an operating pressure of 130 bar and in the temperature range from -196 to +150°C.

The fittings of the RefHP series can be associated with all common copper-iron pipes, like K65. With low-carbon content, the quality of the compound becomes superior. The corrosion-resistant material is also magnetic so that it can be recognized easily at jobsite.
CuFe fittings are defined with their lower weight and therefore it becomes easier to handle them easily at the construction site. Besides, the formation of a brazed joint is significantly easier and quicker as compared to traditional Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding.

The RefHP series have also successfully passed the UL 207 tests.
