Plangrid is now incorporated with Autodesk RevitⓇ to allow the users for accessing Building Information Modeling (BIM) data instantly in either 2D or 3D, directly inside PlanGrid on their mobile devices. Construction teams and facilities managers now will be able to preview rich BIM data in a user-friendly 2D interface or 3D environment to maintain superior precision in the job site as well as get rid of rework and take decisions quickly and with more confidence.

Architects and engineers who apply BIM to design construction projects can generate a 3D models to function as a virtual illustration of how complicated work can be set up and building assets should interact. Models are implanted into rich property data like the height of a counter, material type of a wall or manufacturer details of a lighting fixture. But when these models are delivered to the field, they’re “flattened down” into PDFs, and the data is lost to the teams who perform the physical work of building or preserving facilities. This loss of data, in conjunction with a lack of 3D visualization in the field, can cause critical errors, lost time and rework.
PlanGrid BIM facilitates the construction and facilities teams to take informed decisions in real-time, with the most comprehensive data accessible and a consistent changeover among 2D and 3D.
With PlanGrid BIM, users can view BIM data properties inside recognizable 2D drawings or acess 3D to visualize assets in an efficient manner within the surrounding environment all from within PlanGrid’s software.
PlanGrid’s new BIM functionality comprises of the following :
• BIM-enabled Sheets: Users can tap objects to avail BIM data properties, like an object’s dimensions, material type or manufacturer details, all inside the recognizable 2D environment.
• 3D BIM Viewer: With a simple tap, users will be able to quickly transfer to a 3D view of a certain object while remaining offline. The viewer, presently in beta stage, contains features like zoom and snap tools for taking measurements among model objects.
• Revit Integration: Sheets are published directly from Revit into PlanGrid, ensuring precise BIM data, including sheet titles and numbers; drawings continue to contain PlanGrid features like automatic callout detection and hyperlinking.
